Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), an esteemed institution operating under the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, is seeking a qualified and compassionate Counselor to join its team on a contractual basis for the academic session 2025-26. Job Description

The Counselor will be responsible for providing comprehensive guidance and counseling services to students from grades VI to XII. Key responsibilities include:

Individual and Group Counseling: Provide a safe and confidential space for students to discuss personal, academic, and social issues.
Student Well-being: Assess and address students’ emotional, behavioral, and psychological needs. This includes helping them develop coping mechanisms, build resilience, and improve their overall mental health.
Abuse Prevention and Response: Be a key resource for child abuse prevention and a primary point of contact for abuse disclosures, ensuring proper protocols are followed.
Academic and Career Guidance: Assist students in making informed decisions about their academic paths and future careers.
Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and administrative staff to create a supportive environment for students’ growth.
Record Keeping: Maintain confidential records of counseling sessions and student progress.

Eligibility Criteria & Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Educational Qualification: A Master’s Degree (M.A./M.Sc.) in Psychology from a recognized university or institution.
Diploma: A one-year Diploma in Guidance & Counseling from a recognized university or institution is mandatory.
Experience: At least one year of experience in Guidance & Counseling in a recognized educational institute (government, public, or private sector).
Age Limit: The candidate’s age should be above 28 years and below 50 years as of the first day of the month the notification is issued.
Desirable Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with certificate courses in areas like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Behavioral Issues, and Adolescence Education.

Duration & Benefits

This is a contractual position for the duration of the academic session 2025-26. The contract is non-transferable and subject to performance review.
